London, Henry Frowde & Hodder & Stoughton (1912).. FIRST EDITION (1912), written and illustrated by Hacker, bound in Japanese style. Slim 4to, 285 x 230 mm, 11¼ x 9 inches, cream boards illustrated grey, green, pink and gilt, titled on gilt panel, colour illustrated endpapers, brown silk binding ribbon through spine, no pagination, 26 leaves including the colour plates. Colour illustrated title page and 12 very pretty plates printed in very delicate colours. Each shows Susan alone engaged on a different activity, sewing, studying etc. or in a different attitude, sneering, scowling etc. Each is preceded by a page of verse, the whole printed 1 side only. Cream boards have pale foxing and pale browning, pale browning to first free endpaper and a narrow vertical strip of pale browning to last free endpaper. Very good copy in the scarce ORIGINAL BOX, slightly dusty and slightly worn, with same printing as upper cover. MORE IMAGES ATTACHED TO THIS LISTING, ALL ZOOMABLE. FURTHER IMAGES ON REQUEST.
