Second edition of this well received collection, 835 pages with sections including: J. Dixon on Diseases and Injuries of the Eye (I-XIII); James Hinton on Diseases of the Ear (I-VIII); T. Holmes on (surgical treatment of) Aneurism, pp. 410-615 and Diseases of the Bone, pp. 730-835; and J.W. Little on Orthopedic Surgery, pages 658-729. Little was the first eminent orthopedic surgeon in the British Isles. He studied under Stromeyer and, in 1838, he founded the Orthopaedic Institution, now the (Royal) National Orthopaedic Hospital, London.
