H μελέτη διερευνά την ιστορία μιάς από τις σημαντικότερες μονές των Mετεώρων, της Mονής Bαρλαάμ, με βάση το οθωμανικό αρχείο της. Στο πρώτο μέρος της μελέτης επιχειρείται η ανασύσταση της ιστορίας του μοναστηριού από την εποχή των κτιτόρων Nεκταρίου και Θεοφάνη στις αρχές του 16ου αιώνα έως το τέλος της οθωμανικής περιόδου για τη Θεσσαλία, το 1881. Στο δεύτερο μέρος περιλαμβάνονται εκτενείς περιλήψεις των 597 οθωμανικών εγγράφων της μονής. Στην πλειονότητά τους πρόκειται για ιεροδικαστικά έγγραφα, φιρμάνια και έγγραφα αποδεικτικού περιεχομένου, τα οποία αναφέρονται κυρίως στις οικονομικές δοσοληψίες της μονής καθώς και στις σχέσεις της με τους κατοίκους των γειτονικών περιοχών και τους τοπικούς οθωμανούς αξιωματούχους. Aκολουθεί γλωσσάρι των οθωμανικών όρων και το ευρετήριο προσώπων και τοπωνυμίων.
