About This Item
New York: The Friends of George & Helen Macy, 1948. Hardcover. Small 4to. Wood-grain paper over boards with silver lettering and decoration. 30pp. Very good. Mild binding edgewear, else tight and internally fine. Handsome copy of one of the LECs special publications, subtitled "With Fifty Examples Collected for The Friends of George & Helen Macy" as a Christmas keepsake. Hunt's "Table Talk" (first published 1851) is apparently his tongue-in-cheek rebuttal to his friend William Hazlitt's 1821-22 essay collection of the same name, which made withering comments about him. The LEC version consists of excerpts from this work -- comments from a variety of writers (Hazlitt included) supposedly made around a dining table. NEWMAN A-22.
