HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary quarter calf and marbled boards, vellum French corners, gilt lettered red morocco lettering-piece to spine, marbled endpapers, sprinkled edges. Foxed in the beginning, else in fine condition. ~ Second edition. From the private library of Jean Herbert with his bookplate. James Silk Buckingham (1786-1855). A dedicated traveller and a prolific writer, he wrote, among others, also "Travels In Palestine Through the Countries of Bashan and Gilead" (1921); "Travels Among the Arab Tribes Inhabiting the Countries East of Syria and Palestine" (1925); "Travels in Mesopotamia" (1827); "Travels in Assyria Media and Persia" (1830).
