Brill] 25 plates of bits of orchid anatomy, from Smith's multi-volume set; it's not clear whether these are supplemental or part of the original set - it has been rebound, and the original covers are lacking. Apart from captions, the only text reads: "Die hier veröffentlichten 25 Tafeln bilden den Schluss der Figurenserie, die sich auf die 6 Nachträge zu "die Orchideen von Java" bezieht.", implying it's the last volume of plates, but if the last of six, why is it numbered 'II"? Each plate is titled "Bull. Jard. Bot. Buitenzorg, Série III, Vol. VI. J. J. Smith: Tafeln javanischer Orchideen II." Hardcover, rebound some time ago, brown cloth spine over lighter brown boards, gilt titling. General wear, corners bumped, top edge dented, some scuffing; rubberstamped name on free endsheet, minor staining; some writing on the closest thing present to a title page; other pages lightly rippled. One page, 25 b/w plates (96 species, each with several structures shown), each with a caption page opposite.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair/No Jacket. Illus. by J. J. Smith. Quarto.
