About This Item
Leipzig: Max Hesses Verlag, 1904. XXIV, 279; 280 pp. and 324; 359 pp. 17 x 12 cm. Half roan with textured green cloth covered boards and gilt tooling and titling to spines, top edges gilt with other edges stained dark green-blue. Four books bound in two volumes. Some light sunning to spines with rubbing to spines and corners. Some mild bumping to corners. Library call numbers at tail of front boards near spine in gold ink. This set was gifted to the Library of the San Francisco College for Women by the book collector Joseph M. Gleason, and each volume bears a bookplate stating such on the front pastedowns, with library card pockets on the rear pastedowns. Interiors are otherwise clean and unmarked. Laid in is a small 13 x 10 cm ad for Hebbels' "Samtliche Werke" on pink paper, along with a small stapled booklet of other titles from Max Hesses. Despite the minimal library markings, this is a beautiful set with Art Nouveau tooling to the bindings. . Hard Cover. Very Good.
