Smith Elder and Co., London, 1904. Fourth impression. Dark red leather. Hardcover. Gilt decoration and lettering to spine. Some gilt faded in places. Gilt border and decoration at all four corners to front and back boards. External guttering is rubbed to back and front as well as top and bottom of spine. Corners rubbed. Front board slightly misshapen to bottom front with feint mark. Page edges are gilt to all sides. Marble end papers with school prize plate to front paste down. Some small foxing to first few and last few pages. Frontispiece depicts a portrait of Field-Marshal Earl Roberts- There are 8 b/w illustrations and 5 maps. Pre-owned.
