About This Item
London : Martin Secker, 1934. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 8.5" by 5.5". None. A smart first edition copy of the short tales by D. H. Lawrence. A first edition copy of this collection of tales by D. H. Lawrence. This volume contains the whole of D. H. Lawrence's shorter fiction from The Prussian Officer, published in 1914, to The Man Who Died, posthumously published in 1931. The stories within the volume are published chronologically and include The Thorn in the Flesh, Second Best, Wintry Peacock, The Ladybird and Two Blue Birds. D. H Lawrence's writing reflected on the processes of modernity, industrialization, sexuality and instinct with his best known and scandalous novels being Sons and Lovers and Lady Chatterley's Lover. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart though with a ring mark to the front board and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good
