New York: Redfield, 1852. First U.S. edition, with portrait of the author and essay, "The Tradition of the Hungarian Race" not in the London edition according to the author's dedication note. Includes twenty Hungarian myths and legends, from "The Baron's Daughter" to "The Hungarian Outlaws." 345pp plus prelims and ads. Light brown cloth boards with blindstamped border design to boards, gilt floral and lettered spine, and gilt shield. Boards aged and with minor wear and a few spots, otherwise very good. Scarce.
