The Taming of Donna (Original erotic comics proofs)

Irving Klaw, 1950s. Original set of 28 unbound black-and-white adult erotic comics, proof plates, smaller than seldom seen 8 x 10-inch plates, a disjointed set including pages 1-20 of a "Sweeter Gwen" title, scattered pages from "The Taming of Donna" and an unknown title featuring a male character who receives a fair share of discipline via flagellation and clamping. Stanton and Klaw operated semi-successful mail-order businesses both together & independently, w/ subscription services for adults-only erotic comics, magazines, novelties, photos. These loose sheets presumably produced for Klaw or by Stanton himself in the 1960s. Shiny fabrics, high-contrast artistry by a prototype graphic novel artist who specialized in maids, female domination, elaborate shackling, oral devices, masks, dexterous subordinates, all astoundingly without much if any nudity. "Published" editions of Stanton's work is held institutionally. From the collection of late fantasy & erotica author, Andrew J. Offutt. Unbound sheets about 5 x 7 inches, b/w, all rectos only. "Taming of Donna": 1-6pp. "Sweeter Gwen": 1-17pp, one cut. "Unknown": 20-24pp. Very Good Plus overall, moderate curling and toning. Scarce New York underground press, for consenting, mature audiences.
