With a translation of the Chieh Tzu Yüan Hua Chuan, or Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting 1679-1701. Two volumes set both with green cloth covered boards and gilt titles to spines. Slipcase with paper exterior and design and text to all side boards. Organized into 2 Volumes: Volume 1 containing On Tao and the Tao, The First Canon of Painting, The Four Treasures: Brush, Ink, Inkstone, Paper, and the Elements of a Picture; Volume 2 contains 3 parts including but not limited to: the Book of... Trees, ...Rocks, ...Jên-wu, ...the Orchid, ...the Bamboo, ...the Plum, ...the Chrysanthemum, ...Grasses, Insects, and Flowering Plants, and ...Feathers-and-Fur and Flowing Plants. Illustrated throughout with black and white illustrations as well as fold-out color reproductions. Clean copies wirh no previous owners' names or other defacements. General wear to slipcase, especially to paper on corners (see image). Please expect the possibility of extra postage as this is a heavier and rather thick set.
