About This Item
Racine: Whitman Publishing Company, 1935. Good. Racine: Whitman Publishing Company, 1935. First Edition, second state with only Whitman catalog number (4056) on spine. Small quarto (9.5" x 7.25"); 314pp +1 ads. Illustrated boards. Clumsy but oddly effective clear tape repair down entire spine and an inch into front and back boards with additional tape repair over broken hinges, apparently re-attaching both. Mesh still exposed between front free endpaper, which turns oddly from the stiff tape on recto, and title page. Boards otherwise edgeworn with bumps at corners, heavy scuffing to spine ends, and some fading and soiling to back. Pages toned and brittle, with shallow chipping and a few tears along edges -- mostly to initial and terminal pages, with no loss to text. Pages unmarked. A rough but serviceable copy.
