About This Item

London: Grant Richards, 1904. Very Good. London: Grant Richards, 1904. First Edition. Octavo. 303 pp. + 16 pp. publisher's catalog. Blue cloth stamped in white, red, and black. 4 black and white illustrations, including frontispiece with tissue guard, complete. No dust jacket. Housed in custom-made slipcase.

Boards have been repaired with tears filled and colored in at spine. Coloring-in appears throughout entirety of boards, resulting in a somewhat strange shimmery look to lettering. With repairs boards remain moderately worn and scuffed and corners bumped with separation to top of spine. Binding remains sound. Toning, spotting, and glue remnants to endpapers with soiling and foxing to edges of text block. Slight loss along fore-edge of page 13-14 leaf of publisher's catalog at rear, but otherwise pages unmarked. Despite the repairs, still a Very Good copy of a scarce title.

[Knight & Darley A.2.a].
