Lithographed illustrated boards front and back with black lettering. Edge wear along margins, corners bumped with some loss of illustration. Illustrated front and back endpapers with small manila envelope pasted down on front endpaper.Sewn binding (single signature) all pages accounted for, some age toning. Lithography still bright and colorful. DJ missing. This was Marguerite de Angeli's first work as her own illustrator and author. She as the recipient of the 1950 Newberry Award for her 1949 work "The Door in the Wall" Mylar protected.

In original color illustrated dust jacket dupicating the cover design, jacket priced at .75 cents making this an early but not a first printing. Very good, some embrowning about the edges. Dust jacket with even embrowning and wear at the extremities.
