About This Item

London: Victor Gollancz Ltd., 1939. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A smart copy of the first edition of this collection of seventeen short stories by Dorothy L. Sayers. The first edition, first impression, with no further impressions stated. Lacking the uncommon original dust wrapper. An interesting collection of short stories by Sayers, many of which containing her protagonist Lord Peter Wimsey. By Dorothy Sayers, noted crime writer and one of the Queens of Crime, alongside notable others such as Agatha Christie and Ngaio Marsh. In the original black cloth binding. Externally smart with shelf wear to the extremities. Slight bumping to the head of the spine and upper extremities. The odd mark to the boards. Book society bookplate to front pastedown and evidence of other bookplate removal. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot and marginal age toning. Very Good
