About This Item
Chicago: Rhodes & McClure Publishing Company, 1905. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Dark green cloth with ornate and extensive silver lettering, decorations and pictorial stamping. 471pp, (21pp ads). Frontispiece, full-page illustrations, numerous line drawings (over text portions) in various colors, decorative endpapers. Very good. Mild edgewear; inner hinges starting but expertly, archivally strengthened, thus tight. Nice later printing of this cowboy autobiography that Ramon Adams suggests "is probably the second book written about the cowboy," first published in 1886 and then undergoing a tortuous publishing history, appearing in different forms (title, pagination, illustrations) and even under different authors' names (such as the "Addenda by Tex Bender, the Cowboy Fiddler" subtitle). ADAMS 1819. GRAFF 3328. NEW HOWES P 496. RADER 2706.
