First British edition. 2 vols. Large 8vo. xxi, 376; xvi, 347pp. With 4 folding maps, 60 full-page photographic plates, over 150 illustrations, coloured plates, four maps & large map in rear pocket. Publisher's decorated red cloth in alligator texture. A beautiful fine set in the very rare publisher's white dust jackets printed in red, probably unique survivors. Jackets mostly complete with loss mainly to upper spine areas, especially on vol. 2, and adjacent upper board areas, especially vol. 1. From the celebrated Morris-Levin collection of publishers' bindings. Rare to find jackets on 19th-century works of Travel & Exploration.
