INSCRIBED by author "To my Mamma Halsey with much love from her girl, Mina Deane Halsey, Nov. 14. '08," and signed by the pseudonymous author, M. D. Yeslah. Numbered copy 1569. Author assumes a male voice and writes in the tradition of the tall-tale American humorist, as in this excerpt from the chapter on the trip up the incline railroad on the way to Mt. Lowe above Pasadena: "Be sure and take your mother-in-law along, Bill, and half way up that incline, if there's anything on earth you want, ask her for it, while you are hanging onto the side of the mountain. . . .".
