"Much new material has been added to this edition, but the clinical sections on 'Symptoms' and 'The Relation of Symptoms to Lesions' have been put in small type, so that the size of the book has not been materially increased....A new section on sudden death has been added. The anemias and the pneumonias have been reclassifed, and the general discussion on viruses has been rewritten" - from the Preface to the Third Edition.
