Cruikshank. 8vo, green original publisher's blindstamped cloth with gold lettering on spine, illustrated with an original frontispiece oval sepia-toned photo of Thackeray from life by Ernest Edwards & a lithographed engraving by George Cruikshank, vii, [viii: blank] + [1] 2-223 pages + [28] Ads for the New List of John Camden Hotten Books. William Makepeace Thackeray (1811 - 1863) was a prominent British novelist and author. He is known for his satirical works, particularly Vanity Fair, a panoramic portrait of English society. VERY GOOD PLUS CONDITION: internally bright, clean, secure and externally very clean with slight rubbing and bending at corners. Small blindstamped "B" ownership seal on lowerright margin of p.19. Cruikshank engraving facing p.83; 2nd occurance of p."117" actually [119]. Two pages once dogeared; now straightened. Binding very slightly cocked.
