Metropolitan Magazine. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1915. Of all those who have called the White House home, there was perhaps no one tougher, both mentally and physically, than Teddy Roosevelt. Roosevelt served as a New York City police commissioner in the 1890s, scaled the Matterhorn, and was blinded in one eye during a boxing match, according to History.com. From photo by Ian Pirie MacDonald (January 27, 1867 – April 22, 1942) was an American portrait photographer, New York City civic leader, and peace advocate. He photographed over 70,000 men in the span of his career, including international heads of state, religious leaders, and artists [Wikipedia]. This was most likely done about the time that Theodore had an exclusive contract with Metropolitan Magazine. Photo itself was taken in 1915. Contemporary wooden screen. 7 lines with bold signature. Portrait of Grey, handsomely attired in a suit and tie. Gray, Zane (1875-1939), novelist Condition: Some wear and staining to mount; very good.
