Vg condition. Occasional, light interior foxing, chiefly to opening & closing pgs as expected, otherwise clean, no markings, no brittleness to pgs; binding & hinges firm. Board corners mildly bumped, just barely rubbed through; spine leather quite glossy & supple with a 1-inch chip at the lower spine. xvi, 279 pp., [1] plate of geometric figures, A-F + 72 pp. of tables and text, [1] page "Fehler-Verzeichniss der deutschen Uebersetzung." Illus. w/ frontis. plate of front and rear of the King George V of Hanover endowed Gauss medal, a lithograph of Gauss's birth house in Braunschweig, and a facscimile of his German & Latin handwriting. With a Latin half-title page prefixed: Theoria motus corporum coelestium in sectionibus conicis solem ambientium. The commissioned German edition of the Theoria, originally published in Latin in 1809.
