London: Secker & Warburg, 1956. Undetermined. near fine. 1st Edition. 256pp. Octavo. Bound in brown cloth with a red label outlined in gold gilt to the spine, stamped with gold gilt lettering. Black and white illustrations throughout the text, done by Tessa Theobald. Illustrated dust jacket, also done by Theobald, has not been price clipped. Corners of boards lightly bumped, as have the tail and head of the spine. 2" closed tear to the back panel of the jacket, with some creasing along the top edge and mild chipping. Internally clean and a fairly bright and tight copy overall with a nice dust jacket. near fine An imaginative novel, with wonderful illustrations along the way; apparently this book is based on true events. With the publisher's foreword, which was removed in later editions. 1956
