A near fine square example of this large format title, the beautiful B&W images of the landscapes of Cape Cod and Maine taken by Herbert W Gleason between the years 1899 to 1937, in four chapters starting with Winter and running through the year to Fall. Each image is accompanied by text selected from Henry David Thoreau's writings about the area. The images were reproduced from the original glass negatives for this book, and are superbly presented, many full page images. A very uncommon title in the UK.
