About This Item

France & Los Angeles: Cyril Viguier & Great Events Editions, 1987. Hardcover. Fine. Of various limitations of this, this is one of 200 numbered E1-E200 reserved for US embassies; this is no. 13 SIGNED by La Fayette. Folio (15 inches tall), full goatskin with embossed image of George Washington on front cover by Hiro Yamagata and with Yamagata's signature tooled in 18 carat gold leaf on rear cover. This possibly should be accompanied by a lithograph by Yamagata but it is not present with this book. Fine copy, sumptuous binding by Francois Courtalon of Limoges (Limousin), with watered silk endpapers, beautifully typeset and printed. 215 (6) pp, illustrated in b/w and color. Done to commemorate the bicentennial of the ratification of the US Constitution in 1787.
