About This Item
Boston MA: Banner of Light Publishing Co.. Good with no dust jacket. 1899. First Edition. Hardcover. A clean copy, withdrawn from the Philadelphia Free Library. The binding is a little shaky, with a weak rear gutter, but holding. The front flyleaf has a chip in it, the pages are significantly age-toned (although not brittle), and the corners of the binding are bumped. Otherwise, the pages are free or soiling or markings. This looks like quite a charming and gossipy sort of travelogue. It is not richly illustrated, but the illustrations it has are interesting (a tattooed New Zealand native, an Australian aborigine, a skeletal "Hindoo fakir", etc. A clear mylar jacket protects the binding from future wear.; Ex-library .
