Lincoln, Journal Company, State Printers, 1884, 1884. First Edition. Hardcover. Good+. Small 8vo decorated & gilt-stamped green cloth. 273pp. D�corated endpapers. A very old bookseller's label (Raymer's, Denver) on corner of front paste down. Owner's initials in pencil on ffep & title-page. Fldg map, 13 1/2" x 19 1/2", inside rear cover, "Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley R.R. and Connections. To the Free Homes for the Million (singular)." Some splits at folds closed on backside with archival film. "this little work, which claims no merit but TRUTH is humbly dedicated to the many dear friends, who by their kindness made the long journey and work pleasant to The Author." The author's brother "was the originator of the colony movement" (The Nebraska Mutual Aid Colony, of Bradford, Penn.) & she was a member. Fulton traveled around the state on the S.C. & P.R.R., the U.P., & the B. & M.R.R. Very interesting reading with references to famous people & events (Buffalo Bill, Little Big Horn, Spotted Tail, etc.), good description of the country, the towns, etc. The personal anecdotes & experiences are well written & engaging. General wear to covers & light to moderate fraying at corners. Hinges professionally repaired. A good+ copy. Very scarce. Graff 1465, Howes F414.
