With mild shelf wear, a few one centimeter micro-stain(s) to outer first few page edges, minor rubbing on corner edges and head/tail of spine typical of vintage books of this age, otherwise barely read, pages are clean, bright, unmarked, and binding tight. First Edition points met from Bowden [A15a] State B / 2nd State, page 348 caption "Home" also confirmed in Bowden by Mrs. Helen Thurber, page 300, line 2 "get", page 349 "Answer the Phone" dropped below baseline by 1mm, page 216 crescent above thigh of dog present and many other First Edition points met. Dust Jacket Condition: Good / Fair. Scarce dust jacket in any condition, one inch chips to spine/tail and chips to outer edge extremities, mild soiling to covers, mild sun to spine, jacket is unclipped, unrestored and fully intact. Front cover on off-white, rear cover and inner flaps intact at all folds, all seven quotations / blurbs within black border, dust jacket first edition points met. DJ in professional collector mylar sleeve. Only two known states of the True First Edition exist, this is the 2nd State and was the final revised True First Edition. Not a (BCE) Book Club Edition, not Ex-Library and not a facsimile dust jacket. Overall a very good plus book. Cover art, illustrations and text by James Thurber. Classic humor from James Thurber, this title is one of his best known books, scarce collectible. 369 pgs. 8vo.
