Text in Ukrainian & English. Compiled & translated by Rev. ANTHONY LUVONY (d. 1976), this prayer book was designed to assist those who, although unfamiliar with the Slavic alphabet, desire to hear Ukrainian Catholic masses ('the ancient Divine Liturgy according to St. John Chrysostom'), and even follow along with the Ukrainian text ('in Roman characters'). At the turn of the 19th century, tens of thousands of Ukrainians were immigrating to Canada & were deprived of the liturgy & sacraments of their country; consequently, Ukrainian Catholic missionaries were sent out from Galicia. Thus the Basilian Fathers Press was founded in 1936 in Mundare, which became the center of Ukrainian Catholicism in North America. This is a fresh copy. Very scarce.
