About This Item
New York: Coward-McCann, Inc.. Very Good+ in Very Good- dj. (c.1949). Unstated edition (possible BCE). Hardcover. [light bumping to a couple of corners, faint dust-soiling to top of text block; jacket is age-toned, spine faded (title is almost unreadable), minor paper loss at several corners, one small closed tear and associated short diagonal crease at top edge of front panel]. Uncommon memoir about the author's happy childhood in his native village in Transylvania. "This is the richly-rewarding day-to-day happenings in the village; of the legends handed down through the generations; of peasant wisdom and human passion; and above all, the story of a family remembered with love." Most of the author's work (both fiction and nonfiction) dealt with folk life in his native Romania; he spent much of his life in the U.S. after coming here to study in 1901 at the age of nineteen. .
