A first edition copy, held in the original dustwrapper. 'Time and Western Man' is an important work by the artist and thinker, Wyndham Lewis. This work unpicks philosophical theories in relation to time, in offers a critique of works by notable writers such as James Joyce and Gertrude Stein. As stated in the blurb, this work is one that establishes 'Mr Lewis's position among the outstanding figures of contemporary thought and literature'. With prior owner's ink inscriptions to the rear endpaper on Proust. Wyndham Lewis or Percy Wyndham Lewis was a writer, painter and critic, who helped to found the Vorticism modernist movement of the early 20th century. A interesting, and at time controversial character, Lewis is a notable critical thinker and artist of the early 20th century. In a full cloth binding, and held in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Light bumping and minor rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, and also to the extremities. Light offsetting to the front and rear pastedowns. Previous owners ink inscriptions to the rear endpaper, and also to the reverse of the rear endpaper. Dustwrapper is chipped to the head and to the tail of the spine, and lightly to the extremities. Small tear to the head of the front fly leaf joint, no more than 1cm. Tear to the rear joint from the head, no longer than 4cm. Spine is sunned, with patches of rubbing. A few light spots internally to wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages are clean. Very Good Indeed
