Toronto: The Macmillan Company of Canada, 1935. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 9.5" by 6.5". None. A signed, first edition copy of this poem by Canadian poet Edwin John Dove Pratt, regarding the Titanic. An association copy, with a dedication by the author to one Fred Clarke, 'To my dear Friend Fred Clarke, with Happy reminiscences of fogs and clams, lectures and Henry Munns.' The inscription is dated Feb 21, 1936. Edwin John Dove Pratt was a leading Canadian poet, who lived most of his life in Toronto. He was award winning, having earned the accolade of 'Governor General's Award' for poetry. This poem is a retelling of the well-known tragedy, the sinking of the RMS Titanic. With photographs of iceburgs as the frontispiece to this work. A lengthy poem, this work traces the maiden voyage of the ship, from its departure from Southampton to its fateful collision on the 15 April 1912. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent condition with minor shelfwear. Fading to the spine and to the board edges. Gift inscription from the author to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
