About This Item
First hardcover edition, with dust jacket, published by Philomel, 1993. Originally illustrated as a frieze in 1977, this is the first book adaptation with the addition of music and lyrics for the song 'Today Is Monday'
In his distinctive style, Carle guides us through the days of the week, with colorful animals eating a variety of foods. An oversized children's picture book, 9-1/4" X 12-1/4". Unpaginated, approximately 26 pages. First edition, first impression, full number line on the copyright page. Sturdy coated stock illustrated boards that duplicate the art of the dust jacket. Boards are flat, and the corners are not bumped or creased. Dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Just has a small spot of rubbing wear to the top right front corner. No former ownership marks, no writing, no gift dedication. Not a remainder, not a library discard. The text pages are all intact, no tears or rips. Binding is tight and square. A beautiful example of this book. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
Synopsis
String beans, spaghetti, ZOOOOP, roast beef, fresh fish, chicken and ice cream are the delicious fare during the week in this popular children's song. Until Sunday. Then, all the world's children are invited to come together and share in the meal. Celebrated artist Eric Carle brings new energy to these much-loved verses as lively animals parade across the page, munching on favorite dishes, and introducing young readers to the names of the days of the week. Both art and song invite children to join in the procession and sing along.
