London: Sampson Low, Son & Marston, 1866. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition in English, first printing. 3 volumes. Small 8vo. 331; 327; 286pp, 2pp ads dated March 30, 1866, 16pp. ads dated February1, 1866. No half-titles. Publisher's original green pebbled cloth with blind stamped borders and designs to the boards, with gilt to the spines. Evidence of paper label removal to front upper part of each board, possible lending library labels?, no evidence or markings anywhere else, the books are clean throughout in tight, slightly cocked bindings. Paper over a couple hinges have opened up but the books are tight and the bindings strong. Some rubbing and wear along the cloth at the board edges. Authorized English translation by W. Moy Thomas. [Sadleir, 1241].
