Leipzig: Bernhard Tauchnitz, 1848. Charles Lever (1806-1872) has had a mixed critical assessment, but "Tom Burke" is generally considered to be one of his best novels. First published in 1844; this id the "Copyright Edition" from four years later. Uncommon thus. Two volumes only of the original three in the set, in Very Good condition. Maroon cloth binding; titling in gilt on the spine, now faded to a light brown [gilt remains bright]. Clean texts; 381 and 394 pages. Mildly bumped; spotting to the endpapers and throughout the text, which remains supple and perfectly readable. . First Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
