Hodder Headline, Canada, 2001. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Fine Condition/Very Good. 1st Canadian Edition. 302 pages, illustrated, b/w photos, maps. Original covers in unclipped dust jacket. Appears Unread. Tom Crean served on three major Polar expeditions and was a key figure in the crews of both Scott and Shackleton. A biography of Thomas Crean who served with both Scott and Shackleton on three Antarctic expeditions. He was with Scott on both the Discovery Expedition as an able seaman and as petty officer on the Terra Nova Expedition playing a major part on the supporting party to the pole, one of the last to see Scott alive. He would later join Shackleton on the Endurance as second officer on the British Imperial Transantarctic Expedition. He would accompany Shackleton on the James Caird to South Georgia in the search for relief for the waiting men on Elephant Island and with Worsley and Shackleton make the arduous crossing of the mountains to the Norwegian whaling station for help.
