Toronto: Coach House Press, 1972. Unpaginated, oblong (7" H x 8 1/4" D). Plain yellow/orange card covers with decorated dust jacket. Printed on buff-coloured stockwith illustrations in black/red/buff. From the first edition of 1000 copies. "Galahad found the Holy Grail and saved the order. He died clutching it. In that last moment of consciousness he realised he had lived his whole life in order to die finding the Holy Grail. Oh well, he thought, Georgina has grown old and ugly and I've been hiding a paunch under my armour. I never would have enjoyed retirement." An offbeat rendering of the life of Galahad, the perfect knight. Small bump to the top corner of the book - becomes progressively smaller towards the rear of the book, some wrinkling in the paper on the spine. Dust jacket has some small areas of surface paper loss on the front panel and on the spine, light edge wear, small bump at the top front corner, light rubbing soiling on the front panel.. Light edge wear to extremities of this book, short split top back spine edge ; French flaps over card covers, humourous illustrations throughout. ; A humorous homage to the legend of the knight, Sir Galahad. This is an early short story by Matt Cohen, one of Canada's most beloved modern fiction writers who was first published in 1969 and continued with many novels, collections of poetry, short stories. After his death in 1999 it came out that he has wrote children's books under the name Teddy Jam. This is not from the limited edition first printing. .

Book in plain yellow wraps with nickle-sized dark stain on front cover which has penetrated through to the next two leafs, erasure marks to front free endpaer, and thin line of adhesive on inside of front and rear covers. Pictorial dust jacket, heavily rubbed on extremities, sticker shadow top of front panel and another on spine panel with same stain, as on cover of book, though not as dark. Illustrations by Margaret Hathaway. Printed in an edition of 1000 copies. An early title, for children, from one of Canada's most prolific fiction writers.. First Edition.
