About This Item
BAES, Jean. TOURS & TOURELLES HISTORIQUES DE LA BELGIQUE. Bruxelles: E. Lyon-Claesen, (1880s). Folio. Portfolio. (xvi) pages, 50 plate First edition. A charming collection of color illustrations based on the watercolor painting by Jean Baes. Baes' illustrations show a selection of Belgium architecture, including Notre Dame, Anvers, l'Hotel de Ville (Fleche), la Chapelle de la Madeleine, l'Eglise des Riches Claires (Brussels), and Batiment de la Bibliotheque (Gand). The plates are dated from 1881-1889. Text thumbed and edges heavily browned, as usual, not affecting the tipped-in plates.
