Octavo (20.25cm); red cloth, with titling and decorative elements stamped in grey and black on spine and front cover; grey topstain; dustjacket; [x],433,[5]pp. Vintage, decorative bookplate to front pastedown, gentle sunning to spine and upper board edges, else clean throughout; Near Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $3.50), spine-sunned, with modest wear along the upper edge, and several tiny nicks, tears, and attendant creases; Very Good+. Richter's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, following "the rise of a town on the site of the cabin of The Trees. A recognizable, credible story of physical and social changes, including the coming of the first railroad locomotive and individual reactions to altering circumstances" (COAN, p.42-43).
Synopsis
The Town is a novel written by Conrad Richter in 1950. It is the third installment of his Awakening Land trilogy, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1951.
