New York: Horace Thayer, 1858. Hardcover. g. 8vo. 334pp. Embossed brown cloth with faded gilt decoration and title to spine. Age color fading and rubbing throughout. Spine edges and corners bumped. Front hinges repaired with modern tape. With the bookplate of Bruce Bryan, the noted author and long time curator of the Southwest Museum of the American Indians in Pasadena, California. Illustrated with seventy b/w annotated engravings "descriptive of 120 varying relative arrangements-forms of earthen effigies, antique sculpture, etc." Binding faded but tight. Book in good+ condition.
