The survivors drifted for 16 days before arriving in the Azores. Twelve survived while 400 were lost. Pamphlets of this type were sometimes sold separately and sometimes bound in volumes. A 24-inch centerspread from a Lindner painting shows the Ile de France in full color. 12" x 8.25" Originally launched in 1927, the S.S. Ile de France was converted to a troopship in 1941. In 1947, the ship was returned to France, rebuilt, and launched on her second maiden voyage in 1949. This brochure celebrates the post-war, transatlantic Ile de France.
