About This Item
This is a first edition (1976) of The Treasury of Painting Through Five Centuries, by the British artist and art historian William Gaunt (1900-1980). It is a survey of European art, beginning with the Renaissance and ending at the mid-20th century.
The first half is text, discussing the works of the great artists; that half is heavily illustrated with black and white photos and color plates. The second half is 76 color plates, all of a quality suitable for framing.
There is a book plate on the inside front cover and fluid from its application caused dappling to the first four pages. Other than that, it has not been read and is in perfect condition.
