London: Londini In Ædibus Thomæ Wight. 1602., 1602. 3rd Edition . Leather. Very Good. Description: Sm. 8vo (6 × 4 in): 99, [2] l. (last leaf blank). Early calf, rebacked, embossed medallions to top and bottom boards. · Register: 8º: A-M^8 N^4. · Condition: Very clean and well-margined. · Comments: Dyer's Reports, the second to be published under their author's name, first issued in January 1586. This abridgment followed a few years later and was reprinted three times, the copy here being from the third edition. The chronological order of the cases is preserved and the page of the original given in the margin. The first two editions are very rare and were probably printed in violation of Richard Tottell's monopoly patent. John Baker suggests that this abridgment would have been of use to "the impecunious or less industrious student" as a substitute for the full version. · References: ODNB, J. H. LUGDUNI: APUD SEB. GRYPHIUM, 1548. In 16. Dim. 17x11 cm. Pp. 402+(14).

Providence: Carter and Wilkinson, 1798. Hardcover. See Description. Fifth Revision. 8vo. 652p. Bound in full period sheep with gilt spine label. Binding is sturdy and attractive but reveals the usual signs of rubbing, wear, spots of discoloration, etc. The tail cap of the spine and a couple small spots along the outer joint are carefully repaired/restored. Interior pages show some age toning, scattered foxing, and mild damp staining. Several leaves display crease marks. The inside front cover and front fly-leaf contain a name and date "Peleg Almys book 1798." This is probably Peleg Almy (1761-1854) who was a resident of Rhode Island. This is the fifth revision of the Rhode Island laws. The first edition which appeared in 1719 was the earliest printed edition of Rhode Island law. [Sabin 70626].
