About This Item
John Churchill, London, 1839. 3rd Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 639 pages (complete). Rebound by Glasgow Andersonian University, as a presentation copy, in full red leather with stamped gilt borders, decoration and titling. On the front pastedown is a presentation label dated 25th April 1846, to (in full latin) John Douglas Rose to mark his entry as a pharmacology graduate. Signed by his Mentor, Prof J A Easton. A stately copy. The boards have wear about all edges, corners, seams. They are scuffed, marked by handling and storage. The spine has wear to the head and foot and scuffing along the ridged body. The gilt decoration is benign. The titling is faded. The boards and spine are still fit and sure. Marbled paper trims and end papers. The pages are pleasing. There are very shallow smears and pools of foxing. Otherwise, the pages are clean, clear, very healthy, sound, tight, smart, more than competent, very confident. fk.
