About This Item

First edition 1st printing, Eliot Porter's photographs are given a separate title, The African Experience, even though the photos are interlaced through the text. A Near Fine book with light edge and corner wear, previous owner info written front paste-down, in a Very Good jacket with light edge and corner wear, age yellowing along edges of white portions, and rubbing on both panels. Price of $17.50 present bottom corner of front flap. An oversize book approximately 11 by 10 inches. This copy is the second state of both the book, tan cloth covered boards, and the dust jacket, single price bottom of front flap. The ubiquitous BOMC edition of the book has cheap laminate boards that are slightly glossy and no price on the jacket, although first edition is stated and there is no blind stamp. A confusing situation that leads to many BOMC copies being sold as if they were first editions. The first state of book is in dark brown boards with 3 prices on the front jacket flap.
