About This Item

Boston: Houghton, Mifflin, 1952. Limited edition in soft covers, originally not for sale. Interesting "publisher's note" by Paul Brooks which draws out the parallels between the story of the Trojan horse and contemporary American political attitudes, i.e. the fear during the McCarthy era that led leaders to adopt the "methods of our enemies." "Americans as well as Trojans can mistake a monster for a god." Verse play, forefunner of MacLeish's prize-winner, "J.B." Very good+ (interior fine, the soft covers are purposely loose, functioning like a dust jacket, and are lightly soiled and edgeworn on top front, sunned spine; originally the soft covers were attached lightly to the interior covers with a bit of glue which is visible on those inside flaps; the back flap is beginning to separate but is secured with a Brodart archival cover so it won't get any worse).. 1st Limited Edition. Soft Cover.
