Illustrated with b&w art reproductions - portraits of five Tudor monarchs on plates. 8vo (5-3/4" x 8-3/4"), black cloth with almost entirely faded gilt lettering on spine, corners/crown/heel quite worn, hinges cracked, faded topstain, edges/page margins/pale blue end papers age-tanned, ink blot on bottom edge (not remainder mark), drawing clipped from magazine affixed to ffep with crossed-out caption below it and stain on front pastedown opposite, typed list of pre-Tudor rulers of England with handwritten annotations glued (apparently) to rfep. Names of former owners written on front pastedown and ffep. Marginalia on more than half the pages - many just small marks, some substantial; handwritten epigraph on page opposite half-title, additional notes on rear endpapers and pastedown.
