About This Item
London: Constable & Company Ltd, 1939. No dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends and corners of black boards, a couple of scratches on the back cover, original owner's name and date (Sept 1939) on f/ep, also a much later owner's bookplate. Otherwise a good clean tight copy, with gilt titles on spine still bright, of this hard-cover novel by the author of "As I was going down Sackville Street". This one, based on the author's own student days, is set in Dublin in the early 1900s. The title refers to the Hay Hotel, a bar which had one window stuffed with hay for the cab horses. Originally published in February 1939, this is a reprint from later the same month. 327pp.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
