New York: Philosophical Library, 1955. First Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 1955 FIRST EDITION. Original blue cloth with gilt lettering spine. The book is in superior condition with clean covers, tight binding, previous owner name dated 1973 on upper corner of FFEP otherwise no writing or marks on any pages. The original dust jacket has small loss at spine ends, minor edge wear, original printed price still present on front flap corner. The former owner was William Davies (1917-1990), a USGS geologist who explored in Greenland and Antarctica where the Davies Escarpment is named after him. He was a recipient of the Antarctic Medal from the US Congress. The book measures 221mm tall x 145mm, and has 194 pages, 28 b/w photos, 2 maps, 4 b/w illustrations, index. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
